Health Qi Gong Ba Duan Jin 八段锦

  The Ba Duan Jin Qi Gong, sometime translated as Eight Brocade Section Qigong, is believed to promote health and longevity for both young and old. It is an excellent addition to your daily regimen. Daily practice of Ba Duan Jin Qi Gong is a 1,500 year old tradition for Ch'an (Zen) and martial monks at Shaolin Buddhist Temple, Henan China. Developed over generations, the movements are soft and akin to reeling silk. Each of the eight movements activates and benefits its respective meridian and internal organ.

 

Liu Zi Jue 六字诀

Six Sounds Approach to Qigong Breathing Exercises is an accessible, fully-illustrated guide to this particular qigong exercise, which focuses on breath control. Liu Zi Jue regulates and controls the rise and fall of Qi (vital energy) through the inhalation and exhalation of six sounds. The exercises feature slow, gentle movements that are safe and easy to learn and are suitable for people of all ages and in all conditions of health. The routine strengthens the liver, heart, spleen, lungs and kidneys, thus helping to balance the energy and functions of the internal organs, and has also been shown to have a calming effect and to alleviate stress.

 

Yi Jin Jing 易筋经

 Tendon-Muscle Strengthening Exercises is an accessible, fully-illustrated guide to a particular qigong exercise that focuses on turning and flexing the spine. Based on the twelve traditional routines of Yi Jin Jing, the exercises covered in the book feature soft, extended, even movements that invigorate the limbs and internal organs. In particular, practice of the Yi Jin Jing exercises improves flexibility, balance and muscular strength, and has a beneficial effect on the respiratory system.
